Kuwait Doctor says electronic cigarettes are harmful

Kuwait

Dr Sami Al-Nasser is a health expert and member of the Nation Program for Combat Smoking in Kuwait. In an interview with KUNA (Kuwait News Agency) he said that he doubted that using electronic cigarettes can help smokers quit the habit.

Dr Al-Nasser said that there has been no confirmation from organizations such as the World Health Organization, that the electronic cigarette is an effective smoking alternative.

Dr Sami Al-Nasser also indicated (with affirmation by several doctors and experts) that the smoking alternative is harmful because it contains nicotine and it’s advertised with campaigns portraying it as healthy. There is also the concern about teenagers, saying that it lures the kids to use it because of the flavors and colors and the usage of the device by more than 1 person, because it may carry communicable diseases.

Dr Al-Nasser warned “Nicotine regardless of the inhaled amount remains a high hazard for the human health, and since these cigarettes supply the human body with nicotine, it is certainly not any better than the traditional cigarette”

There is a lot of misinformation being spread around internationally due largely to big companies who profit from smoking cessation devices like nicotine gum, patches and other “quit smoking” devices. Electronic cigarettes are a threat to them and you can expect to see more propaganda like this in the future. I hope people do some further honest research. The correct information is out there if people only care to look.
